Design

The Flow X13 is one of the smallest and lightest gaming laptops available, measuring 11.8 x 8.7 x 0.6 inches and weighing 2.9 pounds. It is smaller and lighter than the Zephyrus G14 in terms of size and weight. The Flow X13 may be tossed into your backpack and virtually forgotten about. The ROG series is known for its simple, all-black aesthetic. It has textured diagonal lines on the lid and bottom, as well as a ROG nameplate on the bottom corner.

The palm rests include diagonal lines that are similar, albeit thinner. The textured lines aren’t just for show; they also help with grip. Despite being composed of magnesium alloy, the laptop has a plasticky feel to it. The keyboard has a small bit of give that isn’t evident in the palm rests. This isn’t a significant flaw, but you’ll notice it during your first few hours with the device. Despite this, the laptop appears to be well-made.

Software

The Armory Crate software from Asus is required for the eGPU to function, but you don’t have to engage with it very often if you don’t want to. It lets you toggle between several power settings, view statistics such as CPU utilization and temperature, and sync illumination with other Asus Aura products. To be honest, it’s a little feature-heavy, and the power profiles create more complexity than they solve. However, because its background services do not consume a lot of resources, you can close it and forget about it.

The MyAsus software is oddly similar, albeit it was clearly designed with Asus’ entire laptop lineup in mind, not just gaming laptops. It comes with some diagnostic tools, a driver updater, and power management tools. I’m not sure why either of these tools are necessary, but they’re there if you want them. I don’t think they’re a big plus or minus, and most people won’t have to deal with them much.On the other hand, I’d uninstall the McAfee trial as soon as you acquire the laptop.

Gaming and Creator Performance

The AMD Raison 9 processor and Nvidia GTX 1650 combination is not ideal for gaming laptops. Keeping the machine cool is a difficulty with these computers.

We used Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and Premier Pro to edit a lot of photographs and movies on this system. We thought his speed was adequate. Flow X13’s Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 performs admirably. We tested out games like COD Black Ops: Cold War, The Division 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and a few others. When playing games, the keyboard and palm rest are relatively cool. Obviously, the laptop maintained an average temperature of 80 degrees throughout the game session, which is excellent.

Performance

When it comes to specifications, the ROG Flow X13 doesn’t hold back. Our system came with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU with 8 cores and a 4.5GHz maximum clock speed. The CPU is paired with a GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU from Nvidia. Other CPU options include the Ryzen 7 5800HS and Ryzen 9 5980HS, with an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU option available in other markets. For storage, the notebook includes 16GB of soldered dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM and a 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen 3 SSD.

Let’s look at some benchmarks before we get into the gaming performance. The CPU scored 7,351 points on multi-core and 1,321 points on single-core. The Flow X13 outperformed the ROG Zephyrus G15 on Geekbench, achieving a higher score than the much larger ROG Zephyrus G15 (Review).

Moving on to gaming, the Flow X13’s GTX 1650 Max-Q can handle some light gaming, but the ROG XG Mobile e-GPU is the real star here (RTX 3080). With the settings maxed out, the laptop routinely delivered upwards of 150 frames per second in Apex Legends. I also played a little Valorant on high settings, averaging approximately 250 frames per second.

The XG Mobile e-GPU also performed admirably with AAA tiles. With the settings cranked all the way up, the laptop averaged around 100 frames per second in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Finally, on Ultra settings, Battlefield V’s campaign gameplay averaged roughly 130 frames per second. These were some of the greatest stats we’ve seen on a gaming laptop, in my opinion. On the GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU, I also tested a few games. Apex Legends was able to maintain a frame rate of 50 to 60 frames per second, while Battlefield V and Shadow of the Tomb Raider failed to maintain 50 frames per second on high settings.

The ROG Flow X13 is equipped with Asus’ ROG Intelligent cooling system, which comprises 84-blade Arc Blade fans, a mix of heat pipes and heat sinks, Thermal Grizzly liquid metal rather than traditional thermal paste, and a self-cleaning thermal module. It’s worth mentioning that under Asus’ Armory Crate software, you can manually increase the CPU’s TDP from 35 to 45 watts. However, this increases the heat and causes the CPU to throttle.

However, because this is a 2-in-1 laptop, we recommend using it in tent mode or with the bottom pointing upward if you’re gaming on an external display. This improves airflow and speeds up performance. Furthermore, with the e-GPU connected, the Flow X13 runs cooler because the dedicated GTX 1650 is no longer under load. The XG Mobile has its own cooling system that keeps temperatures under control even when gaming for lengthy periods of time.

In terms of performance, the ROG Flow X13 is on par with some of the greatest gaming laptops on the market. While the dedicated GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU isn’t the finest in the business, the CPU and e-GPU performance comfortably rivals, if not outperforms, full-fat 15.6-inch gaming laptops. The cooling system has also been tweaked to eliminate thermal throttling during gaming. When you don’t have access to an external GPU, even the dedicated GTX 1650 Max-Q has its advantages and can be fairly useful.

The layout of the keyboard

A seamless typing experience is provided by the 15-inch chiclet keyboard layout. Tactile feedback is provided by the keys. It’s a backlit keyboard with no RGB illumination (just white), but Asus has included a brightness level adjustment option that you can play with to keep consumers pleased. The keyboard is sturdy, albeit the short travel means I frequently find myself hitting the Caps Lock and Shift keys more than I intended.

Nonetheless, the keyboard provides a pleasant typing experience and is great for people like myself, who spend their days typing dozens of articles, emails, and social media texts. When it comes to the trackpad, the large layout on such a small chassis makes it completely unneeded. The trackpad’s surface is smooth, and Windows Precision drivers are supported for precise tracking. The touchpad is really sensitive, but if your fingers are greasy, the smoothness might be a small annoyance.

The Life of the Batteries

The Asus ROG Flow X13 comes with a 62Whr battery that can last up to 5 hours, which is less than half of the stated 10 hours. However, given that we’re working with an 8-core CPU, a 4K display, and a dedicated graphics card in an ultraportable 13-inch form size, this shouldn’t be surprising. If you want to get a little extra battery life out of your laptop’s battery, I recommend going to 1080p resolution. The ROG Flow X13’s battery life isn’t great, but that was to be expected given the specifications.

Go with the Flow

In terms of design, Asus has come a long way.Apart from the RGB lights, some of the more recent Asus models are a lot more sophisticated and don’t scream “gamer” as much as they used to.

The ROG Flow X13 adopts a more refined design approach, foregoing an aggressive appearance in favor of a more elegant one. The device is elegant and premium, with a magnesium alloy chassis. With its lone trademark in one corner, the ribbed texture feels wonderful to the touch.

On the sides of the ROG Flow X13, there’s one Type-C USB 3.2 Gen2 PD (2 if you consider the one on the XGm), one Type-A USB 3.2 Gen2 port.

Some folks may find the ports inadequate, but I haven’t needed to utilize them any more than they have. There’s not much to work with here, and Asus has kept things simple, but there’s a purpose for that, which we’ll discuss later.

There’s no sign of RGB, which I appreciate. The keyboard, too, has a basic white backlight that works well with the gadget. The keyboard is enjoyable to use and, despite its crisp key pushes, is quiet.

The ribbed design extends to the panels beside the trackpad, which are, unfortunately, a little too small for my liking. It appeals to me.

Audio and webcam

Two bottom-firing speakers and a clever amplifier manage the audio on the ROG Flow X13. While I still prefer to game with a headphone, the Flow X13’s speakers were surprisingly loud for a 13-inch laptop. Despite the lack of thunderous bass, the speakers offer rich tones with good instrument separation. The 720p webcam is well above average and performs admirably during video calls.

Summary of Asus ROG Flow X13 Price in BD

13-inch gaming laptops with this much power under the hood aren’t common, this could be a fantastic option if you need a small portable machine with some gaming strength. The unit’s 2-in-1 capability sets it apart, and it could be appealing if you enjoy the notion of a gaming laptop that also functions as a tablet.

The lackluster gaming performance, low battery life, and awkward port placement, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired. If performance is your first priority, you’d be better off choosing the more powerful (and similarly priced) Razer Blade 14 or Zephyrus G14 instead.
